This Sunday sees a return to Glen Callater, previously visited in February. Today is a through route, along Glen Callater, up and over the munro Carn An T-Saigart Mor and then down the other side into Ballochbuie Forest.
Poring over maps beforehand has revealed a few points of interest; to explore and photograph these without holding up the party, I’m kitted out to travel fast so I can blast ahead and get some shots: shorts, rab vapour rise (quite breathable softshell) and salomon x-ultra gtx. These are stiff-soled chunky trail running shoes, normally reserved for bike duty as I prefer the lighter and more breathable inov8 roclites or brooks cascadia for trail running. For a rocky munro/boggy moorland, and a heavier than normal rucksack (dslr, tripod, lenses) these are the ticket.
